Sediqeh Hamzehayi, Sina Alikhani’s mother, said that no medication has reached Sina and his condition is not good.
Sediqeh Hamzehayi, the mother of Sina Alikhani, who is referred to as the ambassador of SMA children, stated that Sina was transferred to the ICU after a major surgery.
She told Rokna News Agency that up to this moment, no medication for SMA has reached us.
Mrs. Hamzehayi said about Sina Alikhani’s condition that he is in pain and had severe bleeding, adding that this situation has arisen due to the lack of medication.
According to her, the President of Iran has met Sina three times and initially promised to help him stand on his feet and deliver the required medication to us, but the medication for patients is still not fully and regularly provided, and many patients have not received it.
She added that there are 800 SMA patients in Iran, and initially, medication was delivered to 300 of these patients, while the rest have been placed in subsequent priorities.
SMA is a neuromuscular and genetic disease that causes the spinal muscles to degenerate, ultimately leading to reduced muscle strength and mobility. Involvement of the respiratory muscles causes breathing problems and lung diseases and, in some cases, can be fatal.
