Senator Jim Risch in a meeting with Grossi: The IAEA Board of Governors should condemn Iran

According to the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, met with Senator Jim Risch, a senior member of this committee, in Washington.

In this meeting, which was also attended by Bob Menendez, another member of the committee, Mr. Risch called for the condemnation of Iran by the IAEA Board of Governors for producing high-purity uranium.

He said that Iran’s uranium enrichment to 84% is contrary to the safeguards agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Senator Risch added that the IAEA Board of Governors must explicitly condemn Iran for this violation, otherwise there is a risk of emboldening the regime, which threatens the world.

IAEA inspectors have found traces of 84% uranium in Iran, but Iran has denied producing it.

The agency has requested an explanation regarding this matter.
