Seoul: North Korea may soon conduct a nuclear test
South Korean military officials say that North Korea might either conduct a nuclear test or launch an intercontinental ballistic missile before or after the U.S. presidential election next month in November.
Officials from South Korea’s Defense Intelligence Agency say that a mobile launcher for an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) has been deployed in a specific area, but no missile has been seen on it yet.
South Korean officials, stating that preparations at the Punggye-ri nuclear test site in North Korea are nearly complete, said there is a possibility that Pyongyang, on Kim Jong Un’s orders, might conduct its seventh nuclear test before or after the U.S. presidential election.
