Sepideh Rashno Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison

Sepideh Rashno was sentenced to 5 years in prison.

Saman Rashno announced on Twitter that his sister Sepideh Rashno’s sentence was finalized after the charge of facilitating corruption and prostitution was dropped, with three other charges: assembly and collusion against national security, propaganda activities against the regime, and not wearing a hijab in public.

He announced that Sepideh Rashno was sentenced to a five-year suspended custodial sentence.

He writes that one of the instances of the charge of propaganda against the regime in her sister’s sentence was writing several literary critiques about Sadegh Hedayat.

Sepideh Rashno, a 28-year-old writer and editor, was arrested after protesting against a veiled woman who had warned her about compulsory hijab on a bus and threatened to send her video to the Revolutionary Guards.
