A number of political and cultural figures have called for the release of Keyvan Mehregan and Anisha Asadollahi.
A group of Iranian political and cultural figures have signed an open letter protesting the continued imprisonment of Keyvan Mehregan and Anisha Asadollahi, two Iranian writers and translators who have been held in Evin Prison in Tehran since May 2022, and have demanded their release.
They were arrested during a widespread crackdown on teachers’ and workers’ union activists and have been sentenced to long-term imprisonment on charges of assembly and collusion against national security and propaganda against the regime.
Mehrangiz Kar, Mohammad Maljoo, Hafez Mousavi, Nasim Khaksar, Mohammad Rasoulof, Zhinoos Taghizadeh, Sarvar Kasmaei, and Fereshteh Molavi are among the dozens of signatories of this letter. They have described Keyvan Mehregan and Anisha Asadollahi as two compassionate and intellectual cultural personalities.
