Severe tornado in Maragheh overturns a portable school, sending at least five students and a teacher to the hospital

A severe tornado in Maragheh overturned a portable school and sent at least five students and one teacher to the hospital.

According to Iranian media, this incident occurred on Sunday, April 8, in the village of Baghiri in Maragheh County.

Maryam Shojaei, a teacher at this school, told IRNA news agency that the portable building was not only not anchored to the ground but was also situated on a height, and after spinning twice, if it hadn’t collided with a water tank, it could have rolled down to the lower road.

Hossein Akbarian, the head of Maragheh’s Education Department, also stated that this county has 18 portable schools, about 14 of which need reinforcement and anchoring to the ground.
