Shahindokht Molaverdi: 100 women were killed under the pretext of honor in the past year

The Deputy for Women’s and Family Affairs to the President in the eleventh government, and a lawyer and researcher in the field of women’s issues, said at the thirteenth Mental Health and Media Conference that around 100 women and girls have lost their lives over the past year under various pretexts of honor and other excuses.

This indicates that we lack legislative sensitivity towards the phenomenon of violence, which manifests itself in the form of murder. An example of this is the unresolved status of the bill to ensure women’s security. Additionally, the mental health bill has been circulating between the government and parliament for over 15 years without reaching a conclusion.
