Sharif University cafeteria is closed until further notice
The board of directors of Sharif University of Technology issued a statement regarding the incidents that occurred yesterday in the university cafeteria, announcing that the cafeteria will be closed until further notice. The text of this statement is as follows:
In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful. We express our gratitude to the understanding students of the university who have greatly contributed to maintaining order and security. It is announced that due to the unfortunate events that took place on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Sharif University of Technology, where some law-breaking students engaged in vandalism and disruption, the university board strongly condemns behaviors unbecoming of the university environment and announces the following decisions to ensure the continuation of educational and research activities:
1. Due to the damage inflicted on the Alborz dining hall, unfortunately, it is not possible to dine inside. Until repairs are completed and a peaceful dining environment is ensured, meals will be provided in packaged form on the southern side of the cafeteria for students. 2.
If it is determined that individuals have engaged in assault or verbal abuse causing injury to others, their entry to the university will be temporarily prohibited, and they will be referred to the disciplinary committee at the earliest opportunity. 3.
To create and maintain peace at the university, students who played a key role in causing unrest, as determined in the initial assessment, will not be allowed to enter the university until further notice.
The university board emphasizes maintaining calm and welcomes lawful activities and events with permits, condemning any repeat of behaviors unbecoming of the university. It asks the disciplinary committee to use all its legal capacities, such as suspension and expulsion, to address these issues.
