Meaningful U.S. Sanctions Against Iran’s Drone Program
While recent days have seen the military equations in the Persian Gulf become precarious following a drone attack by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on an Israeli oil tanker, Tuesday’s U.S. sanctions against Iran’s drone program have unveiled a significant shift in the monitoring and punitive strategies against Iran.
These new sanctions, aside from targeting drone industries and companies within Iran, also aim at the transportation routes and international space of interactions related to these industries. This space, which Iran utilizes through the UAE and registered companies and businesses in that country, although seemingly allows diverse activities for the Iranian regime, has become one of the best opportunities for the U.S. to monitor various activities.
