Simultaneously with the announcement of the start of a new round of nuclear negotiations, the U.S. imposed new sanctions against Iran.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced on Wednesday, April 8, the imposition of a new round of sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
This action took place just two days after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Washington intends to begin direct negotiations with Tehran regarding its nuclear program.
In the Treasury Department’s statement, it is mentioned that five institutions and one individual in Iran have been placed on the sanctions list due to their support of the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.
The aim of these sanctions has been stated as preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Among the sanctioned entities are the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and the Iranian Centrifuge Technology Company (TESA), which play a key role in uranium enrichment efforts.
Additionally, the sanctioned individual is Majid Maslat, CEO of Atbin Ista Technical and Engineering Company, which, according to the Treasury Department, plays a role in supplying parts from foreign sources for TESA.
