Reports circulating on social media indicate the killing of a 12-year-old girl by gunfire from armed police officers in Hormozgan.

According to these reports, on the night of Sunday, December 25, officers opened fire on a vehicle on the Lamerd to Bastak road in Hormozgan province. It is said that Soha Etebari, a 12-year-old child from the village of Kholous in Bastak, who was in the car with her family, was transferred to the hospital after being hit by a bullet but died before reaching the operating room.

Mehrdad Mashvagh, the deputy police commander of Hormozgan, confirmed on Monday that a bullet from the officers hit one of the vehicle’s occupants, who was then taken to the hospital, but he did not mention the child’s name, age, or death in his statements.

According to the Hormozgan police information website, Mehrdad Mashvagh justified the shooting at Soha Etebari’s family car by the officers’ suspicion of tinted windows and the driver’s failure to comply with the police’s stop order.
