Some Students Suspended for Not Adhering to Dress Code Regulations

A number of students were suspended for not adhering to dress code regulations.

A week after the reopening of universities in the new year, several student activists have faced suspension from studies, and simultaneously, security personnel and plainclothes agents stationed at the university entrances have prevented some female students from entering due to non-compliance with the dress code policy.

At the University of Art in Tehran, security personnel have blocked the entry of some male and female students to the Bagh-e Melli campus, and according to women’s student councils, veiled women, supported by these forces, have taken actions to button up the jackets of female students and cover their heads with scarves.

The student organizations at the University of Art have described these actions as despicable, insulting, and intolerable, adding that a number of female students have been banned from entering for refusing the mandatory hijab, based on the decision of the head of security and without following the legal procedures.
