The spokesperson of the Iranian Football Federation reported that individuals involved in witchcraft in football have been arrested.
Amir Mahdi Alavi, the spokesperson of the Football Federation, stated regarding the reopening of the witchcraft case in football that two individuals have been arrested in this matter, and based on their explanations, the names of other individuals have also been mentioned.
He emphasized that the atmosphere should not develop in a way that only a few names are mentioned, turning the issue into confusion.
Alavi, noting that the names of two Premier League coaches were mentioned a few days ago, explained that these individuals merely claimed to have received offers of collaboration from sorcerers but have not provided any documentation.
He added that we should not constantly belittle football.
Of course, the truth should be clarified, but the image of football should not be tarnished.
According to the spokesperson, in recent years, the Ethics Committee has intervened in this area, and more than 50 people have been summoned. He expressed hope that one day it will be possible to discuss this issue more openly and specifically.
Alavi stated that witchcraft in football is an identified violation and can lead to suspension, and if it becomes evident, it is considered a visible crime.
However, he did not specify whether the violators are only head coaches or if managers are also among them, only noting that so far he has only heard about football and that a more serious approach to this issue is necessary.
The spokesperson added that some individuals have recently contacted and stated that they have not received any notification or ruling from the court and were even willing to provide their documents for review.
He further said that part of the sensationalism regarding this case has been done by foreign media.
According to him, the Ethics Committee does not have judicial authority and hands over many cases to judicial bodies. Alavi emphasized that there is a significant difference between a violation and an evident crime.
