The start of a joint military exercise between Iran and Russia in the Caspian Sea

The Islamic Republic and Russia emphasized the expansion of their strategic cooperation by holding a joint military exercise in the Caspian Sea.

Iranian domestic media reported on Monday, July 23, quoting Abbas Hosseini, the spokesperson for this naval maneuver, that the 2024 rescue and maritime security exercise includes tactical drills, rescue operations, enhancing the skills of personnel in establishing maritime security, and aerial photography operations.

The relations between the Islamic Republic and Russia have for years led to concerns among many countries, especially since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The Institute for the Study of War in Washington reported some time ago that Iran has become a significant arms exporter to Russia during the Ukraine war, and Moscow has so far purchased thousands of Shahed drones, which have been used in multiple aerial attacks on Ukraine.
