Commencement of joint military exercise between Iran and Russia in the Caspian Sea

The Islamic Republic and Russia emphasized on expanding their strategic cooperation by holding a joint military exercise in the Caspian Sea.

Iranian media reported on Tuesday, the first of August, quoting Abbas Hosseini, the spokesman for this naval maneuver, that the 2024 Maritime Relief and Security Exercise includes tactical exercises in rescue operations, enhancing the skills of personnel in maintaining maritime security, and aerial photography operations.

The relations between the Islamic Republic and Russia have caused concerns for many countries, especially since Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

A war studies institute in Washington had recently reported that during the Ukraine war, Iran had become a major arms exporter to Russia, and Moscow has so far purchased thousands of drones that have been used in numerous aerial attacks on Ukraine.
