Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, stated that the retribution sentence was carried out in Farah after their return to power.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, announced in a statement that according to the ruling of the Taliban’s Supreme Court, today the retribution sentence was executed on an individual in Farah province.
The statement mentioned that God’s decree of retribution was applied to a murderer on Wednesday in the center of Farah province. The statement added that this person was named Tajmir and was accused of killing someone named Mustafa, to which he confessed.
It is unclear how this execution was carried out, but during their first regime, the Taliban executed retribution sentences by shooting.
The Taliban’s statement emphasized that this individual’s case was carefully reviewed in the Taliban’s three-tier court system before such a sentence was issued.
Critics say that Taliban trials are conducted without defense attorneys, prosecutors, or granting the accused the right to defend themselves.
