Statement of political prisoners: We go on hunger strike on Tuesdays
A group of political prisoners who have been on hunger strike on Tuesdays in recent weeks in protest against executions in Iran have expressed hope in a statement that soon a society free from discrimination, violence, tyranny, and structural exploitation, ensuring human rights for all citizens, will emerge, and medieval sentences like execution will be abolished.
In the statement dated March 19, 2024, signed by a group of strikers of the ‘Black Tuesdays’ in the prisons of Ghezel Hesar, Evin, Karaj, Mashhad, and Khorramabad, it is stated that given the recent reports of the United Nations Human Rights Council and the emphasis on the necessity of international condemnation of human rights violations and executions in Iran, we believe that the victory of the people and the realization of justice is only possible through the unity and solidarity of the Iranian people themselves.
