The Ministry of Economy says street vendors will also be subject to paying taxes.
Amir Sayyah, head of the National Center for Business Environment Improvement at the Ministry of Economy, states that street vendors will also be subject to paying taxes.
In an interview with the Iranian Labour News Agency (ILNA), he said that taxes will apply to street vendors as well. Fundamentally, why shouldn’t a street vendor pay taxes? Every individual with any amount of income above the set threshold must pay taxes.
He further stated that street vendors must also undergo identity verification and have card readers so that we know how much income each street vendor has. If it exceeds the legal threshold, they should rightfully pay the corresponding taxes.
He added that according to the law, individuals are exempt from paying taxes up to a certain income level, so street vendors with low incomes should not worry about paying taxes.
According to the budget bill for the next year, 1403, the tax revenue ceiling is projected to be 1,122 trillion tomans.
In recent years, due to accumulated budget deficits and reduced foreign currency revenues mainly because of sanctions, the Iranian government has placed special emphasis on increasing tax revenues.
