Strike of the Iranian Women’s National Football Team Players
Several players invited to the Iranian women’s national football team say they are not willing to participate in training due to unfavorable conditions. The coaching staff tried to dissuade the protesters, yet 14 players have boycotted the camp.
The late organization of the camp, neglect of the national team, lack of facilities, poor quality of uniforms, and the attitude of the vice president of women’s football federation are some of the reasons that have led several female national players, including key members, to forgo attending the national team camp.
The federation has refrained from providing tickets for the national players to travel to Tehran and attend the camp, and it also owes the players wages and benefits from previous events. The amounts owed will lose value the longer they are delayed, considering the continuous devaluation of the rial.
