Suicide of a Dissident Painter
According to news published on social media, Maryam Salimian, an artist and painter who supported nationwide protests with her work, committed suicide at the airport after receiving a student visa for Austria and learning she was banned from leaving the country.
Reports indicate that she, known for her creativity in painting and for creating numerous works including those about protests and protestors, which she shared on her Instagram page, had been repeatedly threatened by intelligence forces.
