Summer of 2023 with Insects and Contagious Diseases
The heat broke records worldwide, and historic temperatures were recorded in various cities in the U.S. and Iran.
The number of days when the heat in different cities broke historical temperature records is countless. In fact, some southern and even northern cities in the U.S. broke their temperature records so frequently that it has become a normal occurrence.
In this unprecedented heat, primarily caused by climate change, the alarming and dangerous spread of harmful and disease-carrying insects poses a serious threat. With recent announcements from U.S. health officials, the situation should be considered an emergency. The well-known West Nile fever has now paralyzed a teenager in Missouri, and interestingly, it had hospitalized the famous Dr. Fauci just last week.
Dengue fever also seems to have become a serious concern, and U.S. health officials have sounded the alarm about it.
A specific mosquito that transmits dengue fever also carries two other dangerous diseases, and its bite can incapacitate a person.
In addition to the mentioned cases, the recorded death of an American in New Hampshire from a dangerous disease and Eastern equine encephalitis has added to the concerns. The current spread of contagious diseases, with increasing COVID cases in the U.S. and the unprecedented monkeypox outbreak, has made this summer challenging for medical centers in the U.S. and worldwide.
Considering the concerns about the spread of these diseases in Iran, and especially with global concerns about new coronavirus mutations, extensive collaboration between Iranian medical centers and those in Europe and the U.S. is crucial.
