Sweden and Denmark joined the European Air Shield Initiative

The agreement to establish the European Sky Shield Initiative (ESSI), prepared by Germany, was signed by 14 countries in October last year. This project is intended to help eliminate the existing gaps in NATO’s current air defense shield for Europe. 13 of the 14 signatory countries are NATO members.

Now, Sweden and Denmark have also joined this initiative.

It is said that the project still has shortcomings, including in the area of ballistic missiles that reach high altitudes in their trajectory, as well as in defense against drones and cruise missiles.
