Sweden suspects Iran may be involved in the explosions against Israeli embassies

The Swedish security service says it is possible that Iran played a role in the attacks this week near Israeli embassies in Copenhagen and Stockholm.

These two separate attacks, which took place Tuesday evening and early Thursday morning near Israeli embassies in Sweden and Denmark, drew attention due to their timing with Iran’s attacks on Israel and escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Fredrik Hallström, the director of operations at the Swedish security service, in response to reporters’ questions about Iran’s possible role in the attacks in Stockholm and Copenhagen, said there are factors that suggest this possibility, including the type of targets and modus operandi, but this is more of a hypothesis than certainty and information.

The Swedish security service had accused the Iranian government a few months ago of hiring members of criminal groups to carry out violent acts against Israel, an accusation that Iran denies.
