Switzerland to establish a no-fly zone for the signing ceremony of the Iran-US memorandum
European media reported that the Swiss government, to ensure the security of the signing ceremony of the memorandum between Iran and the US, has enlisted over two thousand soldiers and will establish a no-fly zone around the meeting venue.
According to the Swiss MTV network, the signing ceremony will be held on Friday at the Bürgenstock hotel complex in the Nidwalden region, a location that previously hosted the Ukraine peace talks in 2024.
According to this report, Swiss army forces will be responsible for the protection of the venues, reconnaissance operations, logistical support, transportation, and assisting the local police.
Swiss media have also reported that the airspace over the Bürgenstock area will be temporarily closed within a 46-kilometer radius, and the Swiss Air Force will oversee the enforcement of the no-fly zone.
Gabriel Lüscher, the head of Switzerland’s international peace policy, has been introduced as the main coordinator of this meeting.
According to these reports, the aim of this memorandum is to end the conflict between Iran and the US and to pave the way for the next stage of negotiations. Swiss officials have also stated that after the signing of this document, further discussions about the details of the agreement may continue in Geneva or other cities in the country.
