Takht-Ravanchi: Iran does not accept the imposition of opinions

Majid Takht-Ravanchi, the Deputy Foreign Minister, emphasized that we have always believed in diplomacy, but a diplomacy where no opinion is imposed. He stated that in such a case, no one seeks war nor welcomes it, and everyone prefers dialogue to resolve differences, provided that both parties understand the conditions and do not feel they can impose their views.

He added that regarding why the war began, it must be said that firstly, it is not possible to precisely state why the war happened, and accepting only one scenario with certainty is neither scientifically nor historically correct.

When Trump’s administration came into power, they sent a letter to the leadership proposing negotiations, suggesting that if we don’t reach an agreement, it would lead to war, regardless of the tone used and the similar tone in the response.

In our response, we accepted indirect negotiations, while they wanted direct negotiations.

Ravanchi said that if both sides are on equal footing and agree to proceed calmly, direct dialogue is better and faster. However, this was not and is not the case with the United States.
