The Taliban Defense Minister met with the Emir of Qatar

Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, the Defense Minister, and Fasihuddin Fitrat, the Chief of Staff of the Taliban Army, met with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, in Doha

These two senior Taliban military officials traveled to Doha on Saturday to participate in the eighth International Maritime Defense Exhibition and to meet with Qatari officials

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, wrote on X that in this meeting, the strengthening of relations between the two countries was discussed, and the Emir of Qatar referred to Afghanistan as a friendly and brotherly country. The Taliban Defense Minister also appreciated Qatar’s good mediation in the peace process and the withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan

Earlier, they also met and held talks with Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, the Qatari Defense Minister

Qatar has warm relations with the Taliban government and is the protecting power for U.S. interests in Afghanistan
