The installation of a new design on the northwest billboard of Valiasr Square in Tehran has once again made headlines and faced reactions from social media users.

The new billboard, which the Tasnim News Agency introduced as promoting the slogan ‘Al-Dhifa’ in Al-Quds, the Shield of Quds, quickly came under scrutiny by the audience, and the placement of the Taliban flag next to the flags of other countries on this billboard has sparked reactions.

Mohammad Khajouei, a journalist and political analyst, pointed out the inclusion of the Taliban flag by sharing a photo of the design on Twitter.

Other users have equated the inclusion of the Taliban government’s flag in Afghanistan with its recognition by the Islamic Republic.

At the same time, the placement of Iran’s flag next to the flags of Saudi Arabia and Egypt has also attracted the attention of social media users.

During last fall’s protests, a design related to pioneering Iranian women on this billboard also provoked strong reactions from prominent women, leading to its quick removal by the creators.
