Taliban officials claim Iran has expelled over 20,000 Afghan children
Local Taliban officials in Nimroz province have stated that Iran has expelled more than 20,000 Afghan children through the province’s border in the past year.
According to Tolo News, Mohammad Haroon Wahedi, the border official of the Directorate of Refugees in Nimroz, has said that these children have been returned to Afghanistan without their parents and are in difficult conditions.
He said that last year, twenty thousand expelled children were registered with us, and partner organizations at the Silk Border are assisting them in health, transportation, and other areas.
Mr. Wahedi added that approximately 40 children are returned daily from Iran through the Milak border to Afghanistan, and many of these children, whose families are still in Iran, face an uncertain future.
