Tasnim called for the resignation of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s ambassador to Azerbaijan because of an interview with an unveiled journalist.
The interview of Abbas Mousavi, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Azerbaijan, with a female journalist without a hijab inside the Iranian embassy has sparked protests from Tasnim news agency.
In a report, this media outlet wrote that the publication of a photo from this interview has faced many negative reactions from supporters of Iran and the Islamic Republic.
According to Tasnim, because this interview was conducted inside the Iranian embassy, legally, the inside of any country’s embassy is considered the territory of that country in terms of regulations, laws, and customs.
The news agency further stated that the officials of our country’s embassies can and indeed should observe the customs of Islamic Iran.
Tasnim wrote that the female journalist appeared without a hijab and, even worse, in attire that is below the formal customary dress for women in countries where hijab is not legally mandatory, which is considered an insult to the customs within Iranian territory.
