The Tax Administration set the value-added tax rate at 10 percent
The Iranian Tax Administration has announced a one percent increase in the value-added tax rate for the year 2024.
Accordingly, this type of tax rate, which was previously 9 percent, has been set at 10 percent for the new year.
The organization has stated that from the beginning of 2024, the 10 percent tax rate must be included in the invoices for goods and services and collected from the buyer.
Value-added tax is a type of tax that the consumer must pay in addition to the cost of goods or services, and the collected money is deposited into the state treasury.
In 2015, the value-added tax rate was set at 9 percent, which included 6 percent tax and 3 percent duties; however, this rate is different for specific goods.
In recent years, following the problems caused by sanctions and the exacerbation of the government’s budget deficit, Iran has prioritized increasing tax revenues.
