Taylor Swift breaks Elvis Presley’s record
American singer Taylor Swift has managed to break Elvis Presley’s long-standing record for the most weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 music album sales chart in the United States.
According to the American magazine Billboard, which monitors the U.S. music market and publishes a weekly list of the most popular albums, Taylor’s version of the 1989 album managed to secure the top spot on the weekly sales chart for another week. As a result, Taylor Swift surpassed Elvis Presley with a total of 68 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 list.
Although 34-year-old Swift has set a new record as a solo artist, the top record in such competition still belongs to The Beatles, whose albums have been at the number one spot on the Billboard 200 list for 132 weeks.
Elvis Presley, known as the King of Rock and Roll, held the second place among solo artists and the third overall for the most time spent at the top of the list, with a total of 67 weeks from 1956 to 2002.
