Teachers’ Gatherings in Various Cities of Iran

Following a call from the Tehran Province Teachers’ Demands Follow-up Group, teachers held protest gatherings in various cities of Iran.

Simultaneously, the Hengaw news outlet reported that Fariba Zandkarimi, a contractual teacher with the Sanandaj Department of Education, was arrested on the evening of April 5th after being summoned to the city’s intelligence office.

The Coordinating Council of Teachers’ Trade Associations channel announced on Thursday, April 6th, that teachers in the cities of Kermanshah, Malayer, Hamedan, Ahvaz, Mazandaran, and Neyshabur held protest gatherings in front of the county or provincial Department of Education offices and chanted slogans such as ‘Teacher, shout, demand your rights.’

According to this report, government agents in Karaj prevented the teachers’ gathering and dispersed them with their large presence.

The teachers’ Thursday gathering was held with demands such as the release of detained teachers, reform of the ranking bylaws, and receiving six months of overtime pay by the end of the Nowruz holidays at the latest.
