Tehran Builders Association: Government's Promise to Build One Million Houses Not Fulfilled

The Tehran Mass Builders Association’s promise of constructing one million houses by the government has not been fulfilled.

A board member of the Tehran Mass Builders Association said that regarding this year’s slogan, the key issue is public participation, which can initially increase housing production to 650,000 units and subsequently help achieve the goal of building one million houses. However, the public or the private sector faces challenges such as lengthy insurance and tax permit issuance and the lack of a real construction rate determination in the National Housing Movement plan.

Mohtasham spoke about the government’s plan for the annual construction of one million housing units, saying that after about three years of the government’s term, the goal of producing one million houses annually has not been achieved. If the government seriously considers public participation and activates the private sector, initially, we can reach the production of 600,000 to 650,000 housing units per year, and then the goal of building one million homes will not be out of reach.
