Tehran Chamber of Commerce President: Thursday Closures Also Canceled

The President of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce: Friday closures have also been canceled

The President of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce stated that the chambers of commerce used their efforts to prevent the approval of the bill to increase holidays, which was detrimental to business, with a national perspective. He said that after the Guardian Council did not approve Saturday closures, Friday closures were also canceled.

Mahmoud Najafi Arab in today’s meeting of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce representatives said that the chambers of commerce used their efforts to prevent the approval of the bill to increase holidays, which was detrimental to business, with a national perspective. The initial stance of the Chamber of Commerce was opposition to increasing the number of holidays, especially the closure on Fridays, which if realized, could have caused irreparable damage by reducing the number of working days shared with most countries to three days a week.

He stated that the opinion of the High Supervisory Board was not only against Saturday closures but fundamentally against increasing weekly holidays. It was also clarified that the thirteenth government was not insistent on finalizing its proposed bill.

Najafi Arab said that it was also emphasized in this board that Friday is not part of the official holidays of the country, and all organizations and government bodies are obliged to provide services, including commercial services.
