The head of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce said that with the continuation of this trend, we will face a shortage of medicine.
The head of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce described the state of the country’s pharmaceutical industry as poor and announced that if this trend continues, we will face a shortage of medicine.
Mohammad Najafi Arab, the head of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, spoke about the poor state of the country’s pharmaceutical industry and explained that the Ministry of Health has allocated $45 billion in preferential foreign currency for the import of health sector goods, including medicine and medical equipment. A small portion of this amount is at the 4,200 toman exchange rate, while most of it is at the 28,500 toman rate. However, there are issues in the allocation and provision of this currency and its supply schedule.
He added that in addition to this, what has become significantly important in the pharmaceutical industry these days is the provision of working capital. The return of resources is severely hindered due to delays by insurance companies and state hospitals in payments related to the purchase of medicine from distribution companies, and consequently, from manufacturing and importing companies.
The pharmaceutical industry expert ultimately reminded that the continuation of these problems could lead to a shortage of medicine because the state of the country’s pharmaceutical industry is not good. For this reason, a few days ago, pharmaceutical companies in the country, including producers of raw materials, manufacturers, and importers of medicine, in a letter to the president signed by everyone, spoke about their problems.
