Tehran Chamber of Guilds: People consider the national currency a loss

Tehran Chamber of Guilds: People consider the national currency a loss. The head of the Tehran Chamber of Guilds said that almost all people have no interest in holding onto the rial. Both economic and business activists as well as ordinary people see and consider the national currency as a loss. Therefore, the country’s officials need to come up with a plan so that the rial has at least a one-year backing, meaning that people should be assured that the value of this currency will be preserved for at least one year. This is also our demand in the guilds.

Hamidreza Rastgarpour commented on the effect of imposing taxes on the increase in commodity prices, stating that one of the issues that causes prices to rise is exactly the issue of taxes. When the share of taxes is determined in the budget law, indicating how much of the budget is supposed to be funded by taxes, this share automatically has its situational effect on the final price of goods.

The head of the Tehran Chamber of Guilds, stating that these alarms lead to the creation of inflationary expectations, said that this inflationary expectation exists for all goods, and people’s purchasing power for buying goods is certainly reduced. We see that while less than two months of the year have passed, some goods have become 30 to 40 percent more expensive, and the only reason for this is inflationary expectations.
