Tehran Civil Court’s ruling on the ISIS attack in Iran: The U.S. is ordered to pay compensation to the victims’ families.
The Tehran Civil Court has ordered the U.S. to pay compensation to the families of the victims of the attack on the Parliament and the mausoleum of Ruhollah Khomeini in 2017.
About a year ago, on June 7, 2017, armed assailants attacked the building of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the mausoleum of Ayatollah Khomeini, killing 17 people and injuring more than 40. At that time, the group known as the Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility for these attacks by releasing a video.
According to the judiciary, the Tehran Civil Court, following a lawsuit by the families of the deceased and injured, has ordered some American institutions and officials to pay a sum of 312 million and 950 thousand dollars as material, moral, and punitive damages.
According to the judiciary, this ruling has been issued as part of a legal counteraction against the U.S. government and also due to this country’s support and assistance to the terrorist group ISIS in committing terrorist acts.
