The Chief of Tehran’s Police says only one percent of individuals are referred to the Moral Security Police.
Sardar Hossein Rahimi, the Chief of Tehran’s Police, in an interview with ILNA’s reporter, spoke about the operation of the guidance patrols.
The operational units of the social and moral security patrol are responsible for addressing individuals who appear in public places and do not adhere to the required decorum, which is part of the police’s legal duties.
Ninety percent of those who interact with the Moral Security Police and do not follow Islamic decorum comply with the police’s instructions on the spot. About nine percent of these individuals are taken to the moral security patrol vans, where, after receiving warnings, they leave the area. Only one percent of these individuals, who are in a particularly unsuitable condition, are referred to the Moral Security Police according to the law.
In the Moral Security Police, instead of taking legal action against these individuals, creating a case, and referring them to judicial authorities, they are systematically briefed and educated in the Moral Security Police hall with the necessary facilities. If they are wearing inappropriate clothing, their family brings them suitable clothing, and they leave in proper attire. All the officers in this hall, where the briefing classes are held, are women, and no male police officers are present.
Dozens of educational workshops have been held at the level of experienced instructors for the officers, teaching them about their mission, the current laws for proper mission execution, and appropriate interaction with the public.
The continuous training of male and female officers in the social and moral security police is a regular part of their programs.
All these individuals are members of the police force.
