Tehran residents breathed polluted air for 170 days.
The air in Tehran was more polluted in the year 1401 compared to the previous year, with the capital experiencing 56 more polluted days than the year before.
The security news agency Tasnim writes that the increase in polluted days in the first half of the year was mostly due to dust storms, while in the second half it was due to pollution from vehicle traffic.
According to this report, in 1401, residents of Tehran experienced 3 days of clean air and 190 days of acceptable air quality.
The number of clean days in the past year was one day more than in 1400, but this statistic is not very significant compared to the number of polluted days.
The main pollutant in Tehran’s air in 1401, as in 1400, was particles smaller than 2.5 microns. Out of the total 170 polluted days, 133 were due to particles smaller than 2.5 microns. The most polluted month of the year was August, with a significant lead, recording 26 polluted days.
