Ten million dollar reward from the US for information on an Iranian hacker

The United States Department of State has set a ten million dollar reward for information about an Iranian hacker named Mostafa Sarmahdi, who is said to be a board member of the cyber company Imen Net Pasargad.

The Rewards for Justice website, affiliated with the US Department of State, announced on Thursday, March 7th, that Mostafa Sarmahdi and the cyber company Imen Net Pasargad led an online campaign in the summer and fall of 2020 under the supervision of the Islamic Republic government, aimed at influencing US voters and undermining Americans’ trust in the presidential election process in 2020.

This announcement, published in the Persian section of the Rewards for Justice website, adds that Mostafa Sarmahdi and the company Imen Net Pasargad, by illegally accessing the management accounts of several media organizations in the US, were able to produce and disseminate fake information. However, this action was ultimately discovered and neutralized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
