Tension in Tehran-Baku Relations

The foreign ministers of Iran and Azerbaijan had two phone conversations last night and today regarding bilateral relations between Baku and Tehran.

The ISNA news agency reported that the conversation between Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Jeyhun Bayramov was frank and transparent, discussing existing problems and misunderstandings and solutions to the current situation.

In this phone call, the foreign ministers of the two countries emphasized mutual respect for good neighborliness and each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Since February of last year, following an armed attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran, tensions between the two countries have escalated.
