Tesla says attacks on ships in the Red Sea have caused a reduction in production
Tesla, the electric car manufacturer based in the United States, says that Houthi attacks on shipping in the Red Sea, which have resulted in changes to shipping routes, have affected its production.
The company says that due to a shortage of parts, it will suspend operations at one of its factories near Berlin for two weeks.
Analysts say that the attacks in the Red Sea, a vital global shipping waterway, will lead to higher prices for consumers at a time when inflation is a global concern.
Currently, about a quarter of the world’s container shipping is forced to take the long route around Africa instead of passing through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, leading to delays and disruptions in markets.
