The Cause of Reza Darabi's Martyrdom in the Bahar Street Fire: Non-Compliance with Construction Standards

The cause of Reza Darabi’s martyrdom in the Bahar Street fire was the failure to adhere to construction standards.

Ahmad Hajivand, a former commander of the Tehran Fire Department, stated that the firefighting equipment in Tehran is almost up-to-date and lacks nothing compared to the equipment of developed countries. The uniform worn by an American firefighter is not much different from that of an Iranian firefighter. Fortunately, we do not have any significant weaknesses in firefighting equipment.

The main cause of such incidents is the unsafe condition of buildings, failure to adhere to construction standards, and mismanagement. In the tragic Plasco incident, the same issue led to that unfortunate event. Although after the incident, city council representatives pursued legal proceedings related to the lack of safety in the construction of this building, this pursuit lasted only two to three weeks.
