The CEO of the Central Livestock Union: The price of meat might reach one million tomans
Afshin Dadras, the CEO of the National Light Livestock Union, says, ‘They claim we have a production of 900 thousand tons today, but we don’t see this level of production. When we talk to consumers, they say that their monthly meat consumption has decreased, and shopkeepers report a 60% drop in sales.’
The statistics from slaughterhouses also do not show 900 thousand tons. If we truly had a production of 900 thousand tons, the price of meat should not be between 600 to 800 thousand tomans. The supply and demand curve determines the price; if supply is higher than demand, prices will go down.
Currently, supply and demand are balanced, and production is meeting the current market needs. However, starting next year, if there is no support for production, there is a likelihood of shortages in the fall and winter, leading to price increases.
