The Chief Editor of Shargh Newspaper: Everything They Say About Niloufar Hamedi is a Lie

The editor-in-chief of the Shargh newspaper says everything they say about Niloufar Hamedi is a lie.

Mehdi Rahmanian, the editor-in-chief of the Shargh newspaper, commented on the joint statement by the country’s security agencies and the accusations of espionage and training of Niloufar Hamedi, a Shargh journalist, abroad with the intention of creating unrest.

These are journalists who have done their journalistic work. They say these journalists have been trained by foreigners to go and gather news. Well, why would foreigners train them?

Everything they say about Niloufar Hamedi is a lie. She was not the first to publish Mahsa Amini’s photo, and photos had been published before her. Niloufar was in coordination with me from the beginning to the end of this matter. Publishing photos and news is the duty of a journalist, and if someone has done this, they have fulfilled their journalistic duty. Must one necessarily go abroad to learn journalism? There are plenty of educational resources in this country as well. I am amazed at how two important national security organizations spend their time on such matters.
