The Creator of Arash the Archer Statue Said They Don't Want It Because It Has a Six-Pack and Is Provocative

The sculptor of the Arash Kamangir statue said they didn’t want it because it has a six-pack, which they found provocative.

The sculptor of the Arash Kamangir statue, which was installed a few months ago at Vanak Square in Tehran, spoke about the opposition to the statue and the challenges faced during its creation and installation.

In part of his remarks, he said a manager told him, ‘We don’t want this Arash statue because it has a six-pack.’ I replied, ‘Excuse me, should I give him a one-pack? A hero has a six-pack.’ He said it was provocative, and there was something about his hand that I can’t bring myself to say.

He said, ‘I was left wondering what goes on in his mind. They put the project on hold for six months and reluctantly allowed it to be installed. Until the night it was installed, I wasn’t sure they would let it happen.’

He added, ‘That manager now holds an important position on television and decides what our children should watch.’
