The European Union Considers Sanctions on Russian Liquefied Natural Gas

The European Union is considering sanctions on Russian liquefied natural gas

Two EU diplomats say that the European Commission is examining a plan to sanction Russian liquefied natural gas, LNG. This is the first time Brussels intends to sanction Moscow’s gas sector.

According to a Politico report, while more than two years have passed since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began, the European Commission is preparing the fourteenth package of sanctions against Russia. According to these two sources, the new sanctions could include restrictions on three Russian LNG projects and the re-export of Russian LNG through EU ports.
