The Exterior of Vank Cathedral in Isfahan Collapsed

The exterior facade of Vank Church in Isfahan collapsed

The manager of the historic Vank Church in Isfahan said that due to continuous rainfall over the past two days, part of the exterior facade of the southern wall of Vank Church could not withstand and collapsed, but the interior wall decorations were not damaged.

Aris Davtian, announcing this news, added that the mud-brick facade of the southern wall of the church has collapsed, and we tried to repair it quickly. We will carry out the repairs swiftly once the moisture dries.

Vank Church, or Amenaprkich, the Savior of All, with a history of 350 years, is considered a masterpiece of architecture and art in the Jolfa neighborhood of Isfahan city.

This church is regarded as the center of communication for Armenians in Isfahan with the Armenian world and was built by the order of Shah Abbas II over nine years in the Jolfa neighborhood.

Vank Church is considered one of the important historical monuments of Isfahan due to its gilding on the ceiling, as well as the interior of the dome and its historical and religious paintings.
