The Ghazal of Hope's Torment and Facing Fear is the Secret of My Patience

Ghazal Ranjkesh’s endurance is hope and facing fears.

Ghazal Ranjkesh, a 21-year-old student from Bandar Abbas who lost one eye due to a pellet shot by officers, wrote in a new post wearing traditional attire for her friend’s wedding that her secret to patience is hope and confronting everything she was afraid of.

In a text on Instagram, she wrote, ‘I’m not very religious, but something I deeply believe in is that within nightmares, you can pull out and create beautiful stories. You can wait with hope for dreams to come true, no matter how long it takes.’

Through her narratives about her injury, Ghazal Ranjkesh has played a role in bringing awareness to dozens of people whose eyes were injured during protests, providing information about the possibility of transplants and the mental state of some of the injured. She wrote that she was initially hesitant to attend her friend’s wedding but overcame her fears.
