The government authorized the import of petrochemical raw materials through porters and sailors.
For the first time, the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade has authorized the import of certain raw materials related to petrochemical and polymer industries through the routes of porters and sailors.
The Tasnim News Agency cited the reason for this decision as the difficulties in supplying raw materials in recent months and the effort to maintain the activities of downstream petrochemical and polymer industries.
During the 40-day war, part of Iran’s energy and petrochemical infrastructure, including the Mahshahr and Assaluyeh facilities, were targeted by attacks, disrupting the production process.
According to this report, imports through the routes of porters and sailors previously mainly included consumer goods and border trades, and this is the first time that raw materials for petrochemical and polymer industries are added to this list.
